This is a completely different experience

I come from the world of wired iems, headphones and the like. My last set of TWS was the Second Gen Aipods and frankly, I do not miss them. In the interest of keeping an open mind, I decided to try this open ear headset from Demicea. Here is what I do like about them. The fit seems to be universally comfortable, but it is a different feeling from both wired and wireless in ear monitors. I kept wanting to shove them into my ear canals, but that is NOT how they are worn. You can see the smartphone-like speakers and it is obvious that they are meant to sit just outside your ear canal. Still, it was a strange feeling and I kept adjusting them to try and get better sound out of them. Still, they are comfortable, once you accept how they are meant to be worn. The battery life also seems solid. After trying a bunch of test tracks and a couple of albums, they were still going strong. I have not run them fully dry though, so I cannot give you an exact number of hours that they last.

Here are my issues - Volume! There simply isn't enough. I was running them off of bluetooth from an iPhone 13 Pro Max and even with the volume maxed out, they still weren't very loud. But maybe they are not supposed to be... you can still hear ambient noise and my wife could hear music when I had them turned up. The sound quality seemed to be okay, if nothing to write home about. And if you are planning on being active with them, I don't know how exactly they will stay in place.

All of that being said, I can see the convenience of these. They let in enough ambient noise to hear what is going on around you. That could be very important, especially if you are jogging or cycling with them. The BT connections seemed to be quite stable as well. I guess when it is all said and done, these open ear 'phones do what they are intended to do, I just don't think this configuration is good for me personally. Don't let that deter you though. Your experience could be quite different from mine. And I do believe this would be a safer way to listen to music in an environment that also requires a decent amount of your attention.

If this is the style and configuration you are looking for, you could do worse.

Surprisingly high quality audio for the size and style

These headphones are not going to meet the audiophile's deepest needs, but they do a decent job.

They're lightweight and easy to forget you're wearing, and can be adjusted in your ear to prefer the audio from the phones or outside audio without much in the way of bleed, though there is a little bit.

The actual audio quality is well above average for the many headphones I've tried in recent years, they aren't the best I own flat out but they ARE the best wireless earbuds I've used.

Putting them through my mess of songs I usually hit to test audio equipment, they give a favorable experience. High tones are the weakest, followed by bass but the midtones are very strong meaning vocals and many staple instruments come through well, and probably more importantly, speaking tones come through very clearly meaning they're great for podcasts. They DO sound a little hollow but that may just be my head. Soundstage is a little unimpressive though.

You can hear a bit of compression on them without a doubt, but not enough to ruin anything, and at 100% volume I experienced no distortion.

I can't say if they'll improve with burning in, I'm not entirely sure how to run a burn in playlist when they apparently turn off after awhile without being worn. But I'd still call them sufficient without it.

Battery life is largely good to start with but they may degrade with time. Charging out of the box took about an hour and a half.

The charging case itself is very pocketable and hungrily snaps the phones into their respective slots for charging when they get close.

Their wireless range is not amazing but good enough for most uses. They drop out after about 10-12 feet from the source. The headphones directly connect as a single device. As is often the case with bluetooth devices, there's a substantial amount of audio delay as well so they aren't very suitable for gaming or watching videos, just audio.

At the time of writing these are priced at $14.99 which makes them a bonkers deal, though, I have a feeling that will move up to 80ish before long, and at that price they're probably still adequate.

    Works good, not that adjustable

Review for DEMICEA Open Ear Headphones (Black).

These are my first open ear headphones so I have nothing but normal ones to compare them to. But for sound they seem to be pretty good and decent, tried it out with my random bit of everything playlist and all sounded good. There isn't much adjustment to them, so they don't fit right in my ears without a lot of adjusting and even then I have to have it adjusted just right to where the button on them doesn't activate when I turn my head to look at something. Pretty comfy with my glasses and doesn't cause problems that some others give with wearing glasses and this style of headphones.

I have used them in bed to listen to an audio book and laid on my side with them... not the most comfortable then but with some adjusting it does feel better than some of my headband headphones that are sold for sleeping with them on.

My six year old loves them and since they are on the softer side of sound output, it feels somewhat safer than headphones. Not to mention it means she can still hear me (even if she pretends that she can't) even when the sound is up too high.

My elderly mom, who has trouble with earbuds, has no problem wearing these and says she can hear from them a bit better than the headphones and earbuds that she uses. I like it since she can still hear what is around her while also being able to listen to what she is listening to.

Overall; worth the buy, these are great headphones. Time will tell how long they last but until that time, they'll be my go to headphones that I use when shopping to listen to music and be aware of what is around me.

Could not get these to work properly

These looked and felt high-quality but I could never get them to work properly. After charging the case and earphones, I successfully paired them to my phone, which was very easy. But when I was putting the earphones on, I kept inadvertently adjusting the volume. Then when I actually tried to adjust the volume, nothing happened. The L and R buttons you have to press to control the volume are located behind your ear, which is incredibly inconvenient and makes no sense. I proceeded to take off the earphones to try and adjust the volume, but I could never get them to intentionally adjust when I pressed the buttons. When I did accidentally manage to change the volume, it didn't matter if I was pressing the L button or the R button -- the volume only ever went down. A very frustrating experience.

Also, the back of the box says these are waterproof but the manual says not to use it out in the rain (picture included).

    Open ear not bone conduction

The back of the box says "bone conduction" but these are really open ear headphones/buds. As such the speaker 'floats' just in front of your ear which allows you to hear surrounding sounds clearly. There is an insert in the box clearly describing the differences between in-ear and open-ear headphones. That said, the sound from these are perfectly fine for phone calls and other casual use - podcasts, audiobooks, etc. - while letting you hear what's going on around you. If you're looking for a high-end audiophile experience this style of headphone probably isn't for you. They paired up to my phone quickly and easily. While the floating earpiece feels a bit loose, the hooks kept them in place pretty well during some light exercise.
